Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of TradesHero, a platform operated by Syncworx Ltd (trading as TradesHero), an Irish registered company. By accessing or using tradeshero.ie (the “Platform”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Definitions

  • “Client” — a homeowner or person posting a job on the Platform
  • “Provider” — a tradesperson or service provider seeking work
  • “Job” — a work request posted by a Client
  • “Lead” — a Job listing unlocked by a Provider using Credits
  • “Credits” — the virtual currency used to unlock Leads
  • “Hero Verified” — a Provider who has completed our four-point credential check
  • “Platform” — tradeshero.ie and all related services operated by Syncworx Ltd

2. Eligibility

To use the Platform, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
  • Reside in or operate a business in Ireland
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Not be prohibited from using the Platform under Irish or EU law

For Providers: You must hold valid insurance, possess necessary qualifications, and maintain current tax clearance as required by Irish law. Where your trade requires statutory registration (RECI, RGI, CIRI), you must hold that registration.

Minors: Our Platform is for users aged 18 and over. If a minor uses the Platform, their parent or guardian is responsible and agrees to these Terms on their behalf.

3. Account Registration

You agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Not create multiple accounts or impersonate others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Platform Services

4.1 For Clients

  • Post job listings at no charge
  • Receive contact from Verified Providers who unlock your job
  • Review Provider profiles, ratings, and credentials
  • Manage posted jobs and view which Providers have shown interest through your dashboard

4.2 For Providers

  • Browse job listings in your area and trade category
  • Purchase Credits to unlock Client contact details
  • Build a professional profile with credentials and reviews
  • Subscribe to Pro Hero for discounted lead costs and benefits
  • Apply for the Hero Verified badge to build trust and win more work

5. Platform as Intermediary — No Agency

TradesHero is an online marketplace and intermediary only. We connect homeowners with tradespeople but are not a party to any contract for works or services between a Client and a Provider.

  • We do not supervise, direct, or control a Provider’s work, schedule, pricing, or conduct.
  • We do not act as agent, broker, employer, or guarantor for any Provider.
  • We do not guarantee workmanship, availability, pricing, timelines, or outcomes.
  • All contracts for works are solely between the Client and the Provider.
  • Payments for works are made directly between Client and Provider — TradesHero does not handle project payments.
  • You are responsible for performing your own due diligence (references, quotes, written contracts) before engaging any Provider.
  • We are not responsible for any loss, damage, personal injury, or dispute arising from work carried out by a Provider found through the Platform.

Advice for Clients: Always obtain a written quote and contract before work begins. Verify that your Provider holds valid public liability insurance. Never pay a full deposit before work commences.

6. Credits and Payments

6.1 Credit Purchases

  • Credits can be purchased in bundles: Starter (50 credits, €49), Growth (120 credits, €99), or Pro (300 credits, €199)
  • All prices are in Euros (EUR) inclusive of VAT at the applicable Irish rate
  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe
  • Credits are non-refundable once purchased
  • Credits do not expire but are forfeited upon account closure

6.2 Pro Hero Subscription

  • €29/month, billed monthly, auto-renewing
  • Benefits: 50% discount on lead unlocks (5 credits vs. 10), early job access
  • Cancel anytime; cancellation effective at end of current billing period
  • No refunds for partial months

6.3 Hero Verified Badge — One-Time Fee

  • A one-time fee of €29 is required to initiate the Hero Verified application
  • This covers the cost of Stripe Identity processing and manual credential review
  • The fee is non-refundable once the identity check has been initiated via Stripe
  • Payment does not guarantee approval — approval is subject to documentation review by Syncworx Ltd

6.4 Lead Unlocking

  • Standard users: 10 credits per lead
  • Pro Hero subscribers: 5 credits per lead
  • Once unlocked, you receive the Client’s contact details immediately
  • Credits are deducted instantly and are non-refundable
  • We do not guarantee Client response or job award

7. Verification Requirements (Providers Only)

To earn the Hero Verified badge, you must complete our four-point check:

  • Government ID — verified via Stripe Identity (passport or Irish driving licence + live selfie)
  • Public Liability Insurance — minimum €2.6 million cover; current and valid
  • Revenue Tax Clearance Certificate — verified against Irish Revenue records
  • Trade Registration Number — RECI (electricians), RGI (gas installers), CIRI (builders) where applicable

Verification is carried out by Syncworx Ltd. We reserve the right to request updated documentation periodically and to revoke verification status if documents expire or are found to be fraudulent. Verification confirms documentation only — it does not guarantee work quality or provider availability.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent job listings or credentials
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Circumvent the Platform to transact directly and avoid fees
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Platform
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Violate any Irish or EU laws, including competition, consumer protection, or data protection laws
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Engage in money laundering or terrorist financing

We may immediately suspend or terminate accounts found in breach. We may report conduct to relevant authorities where required by law.

9. Content You Submit

You retain ownership of content you submit (job listings, profile information, reviews, images). By submitting content, you grant Syncworx Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute that content on the Platform and in promotional materials for our services.

  • You warrant your content is accurate and does not infringe any third-party rights
  • You are solely responsible for all content you post
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law, without notice
  • User-submitted content does not reflect the views of Syncworx Ltd
  • We may use anonymised or aggregated content for analytics and service improvement

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
  • We do not vet, endorse, or guarantee the quality of Providers' work
  • We do not verify the accuracy of job postings
  • We are not responsible for disputes between Clients and Providers
  • Verification status confirms documentation only, not work quality

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY IRISH LAW:

  • TradesHero is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • We are not liable for property damage, personal injury, or economic loss arising from work performed by Providers
  • We are not liable for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities

Note: This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or breaches that cannot be excluded under Irish consumer protection law.

12. No Personal Liability of Individuals

To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, you agree that any claims arising from your use of the Platform will be brought only against Syncworx Ltd as a legal entity, and not personally against any of our directors, officers, employees, agents, or contractors.

This clause does not limit liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TradesHero, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Your violation of any law or regulation
  • Your violation of third-party rights
  • Work performed by you (Providers) or disputes with Providers (Clients)

14. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform—including text, graphics, logos, software, and trademarks—is owned by TradesHero or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

By posting content (job listings, reviews, profile information), you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content on the Platform.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Your conduct harms the Platform or other users
  • We are required to do so by law

You may close your account at any time via your dashboard. Upon termination, unused Credits are forfeited, and active subscriptions are cancelled without refund.

16. Digital Services Act (DSA) Compliance

Syncworx Ltd (trading as TradesHero) complies with the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).

Reporting Illegal Content

If you believe content on the Platform is illegal or violates these Terms, please notify us:

  • Email: info@syncworx.ie with subject line “DSA — Illegal Content Report”
  • Include: the exact URL or job ID; description of the content; why you believe it is illegal; your name and contact details
  • We will review notices within 3 business days and act where appropriate, providing a statement of reasons for any action taken

Internal Complaints and Appeals

If you disagree with a content decision (e.g., removal of your listing), you may submit an internal complaint within 6 months by emailing info@syncworx.ie with subject “DSA — Decision Appeal”. We will review and respond with reasons.

Provider Verification

We conduct identity and credential checks on Providers applying for Hero Verified status. These checks are performed on documentation provided at the time of application and do not constitute a guarantee of ongoing suitability, work quality, or conduct.

Transparency

Syncworx Ltd will publish an annual summary of notices received and moderation actions taken in connection with our DSA obligations.

17. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

17.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. The Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where EU consumer protection laws mandate otherwise.

17.2 Dispute Resolution

Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting us at legal@tradeshero.ie.

18. Consumer Rights (EU/Irish Law)

If you are an individual consumer in Ireland or the EU, you have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and EU consumer protection directives, including:

  • Right to clear and transparent pricing information
  • Right to cancel certain digital services within 14 days (does not apply to Credits once used)
  • Right to fair contract terms (unfair terms may be unenforceable)

19. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, wars, strikes, cyberattacks, or government actions.

20. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or Platform notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

22. Miscellaneous

  • No Waiver: A failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the complete agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.
  • Assignment: You may not transfer your rights without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights to an affiliate or successor.
  • No Third-Party Rights: No third party has rights under these Terms unless expressly stated.
