Locating an employee is personal data. Under GDPR you need a lawful basis for it, a record of why it is justified, and clear notice to the driver — consent from an employee rarely counts, because it is rarely freely given. We include a driver notice template and a data protection impact assessment starter with the Dispatch tier so the conversation with your crew is a straightforward one. Location is shown to your office only.
Priced by the yard, not by the head
A flat monthly price for your band of vehicles. Add a van mid-month and nothing changes unless you cross into the next band — no per-seat counting, no invoice that moves every time a driver starts or leaves.

Straight answers
How much is it for 30 vehicles?
€99 + VAT a month for checks and defects, €169 + VAT with reminders and maintenance, or €249 + VAT with the dispatch board and live location. That's €8.30 per vehicle on the top tier — about 27c per vehicle per day. It sits on top of your TradesHero Pro subscription (€45/mo + VAT).
Do trailers and towed plant cost extra?
No. Trailers, chippers, towed dumpers and plant are free — they get full compliance records, documents and reminders like anything else, they just don't count towards your vehicle band. Only things that are taxed and driven on the road count.
What happens if I add vans mid-month?
Nothing changes unless you cross into the next band. If you do, you get the capacity straight away and the difference appears on your next invoice — we don't charge your card mid-month. Your band follows your busiest week, so taking vans off again applies from your next billing date.
Does this guarantee I'll pass CVRT?
No, and be wary of anything that says it does. This keeps the records you're required to keep and reminds you before dates fall due. Whether a vehicle passes depends on the condition of the vehicle, which is your responsibility as the operator.
How does the location tracking work?
It reads location from the driver's phone while the TradesHero app is running — there's no box to fit and no installation cost. That means it won't tell you a van moved at three in the morning, and it stops when a phone dies or the app is closed. If you need always-on tracking, you need a hardware tracker, and we don't sell one.
Do my drivers have to agree to being located?
They have to be told, clearly, and you need a lawful basis for it under GDPR. We give you a driver notice template and a data protection impact assessment starter with the Dispatch tier so you can do that properly. Location is only ever shown to your office, never to us or to anyone else.
Can I try it first?

What happens to my records if I stop paying?
They are never deleted. If a payment fails you keep working normally for two weeks. After that the module goes read-only — you can still read and export everything, and your drivers can still record daily checks and defects for another 90 days, because those are records you're legally required to keep. Pay again at any point and everything is restored immediately.
